There are many people working on a drilling rig who must make decisions regarding the drilling operation. These include the representative of the Oil Company known as the operator, the representative of the Drilling Company known as the Contractor, and the representative of the Drilling fluid Company. Respectively these jobs are called Company man, Toolpusher, and Mud Engineer.
If the oil company is using a representative he has the overall responsibility and makes final decisions regarding the drilling operation. Under him, the Toolpusher is responsible for the drilling rig and crew performance. The Mud Engineer works directly for the operator under their representative.
If the oil company does not furnish a representative, then the Toolpusher assumes that responsibility on location and represents both the operator and drilling company.
There are excellent software programs available at a reasonable price to help all these personnel. Go to www.drillingsoftware.us in order to view VIDEOS or download FREE trials of these programs.
